Conferences

Since inception, SCCR has hosted conferences for young people and professionals who work with families. The conferences are themed, in person or online, and have featured speakers from the worlds of science, third sector, politics, education, and law, as well as the voices of those with lived experience. This page links to past and upcoming conferences, with video or audio of events available to be watched or listened to again.

SCCR International Online Conference 2025
Can't, Not Won't
‘Can’t’ not ‘won’t’ - is there a choice? Or is there a barrier? For many young people, it’s not a case of ‘won’t’, but of ‘can’t’; life has limited their ability to make progress. SCCR's 2025 online conference ran across March, featuring eight events that examined what these barriers are, how they came to be – and what we can do to help them pass these obstacles. Below you will find video of each of the events.
Being Well, Doing Well
The BIG Family Event
On Saturday 9 November, come to Edinburgh's Dynamic Earth between 9.30am and 3pm for a free family day out. Through interactive and engaging activities, where young people and parents and carers can come together, we will be looking at the different aspects that can impact on a family’s wellbeing whether that be a positive or negative impact. And once the event has finished families also have the opportunity to explore Dynamic Earth itself!

Ripples.... The Power of You
Ripples…The Power of ‘You’ covered a series of talks, panel discussions and workshops exploring how the acts of individuals can ‘ripple’ outwards, causing others to make decisions whose consequences then ripple out further. The talks not only looked outwards, but also inwards; we are best placed to contribute to our community when our minds and relationships are in good health.
